Music Reviews of Children of Eden (Papermill Playhouse Cast)Music Review: The definitive Children of Eden? Rating: 5 Stars
Despite what you might read, I didn't find the original London cast recording particularly inspiring...what is interesting is to listen to the evolution of the musical from its original form to the more recent version recorded here. The interweaving of motifs is much denser and effective and several weak and dated-sounding songs have been cut from the 1991 show. While not all of the solo performances on the new recording are brilliant, the large chorus and nearly-complete score are an asset to those wishing to hear the show as currently offered for production.
Music Review: Children of Eden......yea! Rating: 5 Stars
My high school is putting on this show and I'm loving it. I'm actually apart of the cast so I feel especially lucky for this wonderful experiance. My brother is Adam/Noah and I play the Snake, a Storyteller, and Yonah. The soundtrack shows beauty, love, and everything! You don't have to be strongly religous or anything for this musical. It's more like a Bibical soap opera, minus the cheesy acting, etc. It shows how you have to balance your loves out with God and other things in your life. The music is beautiful and wonderful and anyone could enjoy it.
Music Review: Serious Awesome-ness! Rating: 5 Stars
All I can say is: WOW. Bravo, Stephen Schwartz. Children of Eden is a fabulous production. You never really appreciate this show fully until you see it (or are in it), but listening to the CD is still a real treat. I was cast in this show a second time, and although I've already gone through it once, I can't wait to be in it again. The music is inspiring and truly beautiful, and it is hard to leave the theatre with dry eyes. Children of Eden can be listened to over and over again and still provide the thrill of a wonderful production. Great for all ages.
Music Review: Amazing!!! Rating: 5 Stars
I was a storyteller in Children of Eden in a local community theatre and I absolutely love the music! The lyrics are incredible, they touch your heart as they tell the story from the book of Genesis. All thirty-seven songs tell you in a delightful way all about Adam,Eve,Noah and the Arc.These powerful songs made the audiences cry.I cannot go a day without listening to the cd.Stephen Schwartz did an absolutely astounding job.I could not even name my favorite song because they are all my favorite. This cd is truly inspirational and very enjoyable.
Music Review: A Heavenly New Musical Rating: 4 Stars
I had the intense privelege of portraying Eve in the Long Island premiere of COE and I must say that this is a truly transcendent musical. This is not just another Bible musical...Stephen Schwartz truly has something new to say about the first few chapters of the Good Book. With soaring melodies and a bunch of songs that are just plain fun to listin to and even grander to sing...COE is one of those new musicals that proves that just cause it's not on Broadway doesn't mean it's not worthwhile...listin and enjoy!!!
