Music Review: A Good Memory from the Show but not the Whole Story

I saw the Musical All Shook Up on stage and since I am a big fan of Elvis and his Music, totally enjoyed seeing the songs used in a story that was away from other things Elvis. The story lines in the play were all wonderful and very touching. These characters some like you might find in an Elvis movie and others with much deeper stories and emotions, all drew you in to their lives with these songs. I have tried to share the stories with those that weren't able to go but it is so involved and blended it wasn't easy. I wanted to share this musical with many of my fellow Elvis fans but since I had to travel out of town and the cost might be out of their ability I looked for a DVD of the show but could not find one - there are scenes I found of local productions on youtube but I wanted it in a complete package. Since there was not a DVD available I looked for a soundtrack. I found the CD and read the reviews to see if it was what I wanted - I know most soundtracks just contain music but have seen some that do contain the dialouge as well. One of the reviews was from someone that had not seen the play but talked of ejoying the story on the CD. I hoped that meant whole story or most of it would be on the CD. While the songs are great and a little bit of the speaking parts during or right before the song is included it is mostly only the songs, and since I have the songs already sung by Elvis I really was disappointed. I couldn't find much info about the CD when I looked at the display where I purchased it - but enjoyed the musical so much as would anyone Elvis fan or not, I had thought I would take the chance. The CD is good, the artist do justice to their character and the songs it wasn't really what I wanted. There is a story description in the liner notes but it doesn't give justice to the real thing. I will keep it for my collection but am not sure I will listen to it very much.
