Music Review: Infectious and wonderful!

Wow, How did I not hear them before? Being a regular listener to WFUV.org's Irish music programs each weekend, I don't know how I didn't pick up on Cherish the Ladies. I just found them via this album in our library.
I have to say this is an absolutely infectious album and I can't stop playing it. Deirdre Connolly's voice, in particular, is absolutely wonderful and the music is perfectly played and arranged. 'An Poc Ar Buile' breaks up the album nicely with some humor in the middle.
I see other reviewers complaints about non-Ladies singers on the album and I cannot say I agree that is a negative. Some of my favorite albums are those when an established group plays along with other known artists - while they may not be strictly albums of the group's core sound, they can bring out a wonderful new dimension to the music. (The Chieftain's Long Black Veil comes to mind.)
The only complaint I have about this album is likely my own personal issue: I find Bonny Blue-Eyed Nancy painful to listen to - much, much too slow and drawn out.
But, now that the library has come and pried the CD from my fingers, I will be buying this album and the new Christmas Album for holiday gifts to my family.
