Music Review: Soft jazz standards from unexpected sources -- wonderful!

This is one of my favorites, too. When I bought it, I had no idea who Charlie Watts was, not being an attentive Stones fan. I bought it just by listening to some of it in the store. I enjoyed the richness of the presentation & orchestrations. The Quintet is terrific, and they're each spotlighted periodically. I particularly enjoy the vocalist, Bernard Fowler, who I understand did some earlier reggae recordings (couldn't prove it by me). He's got some nice ways with a lot of numbers here, particularly "Good Morning Heartache," "I've Got a Crush on You" (which opens the disc and captured me immediately), and "Stairway to the Stars."
A beautiful soft jazz album of old standards from unexpected sources -- wonderfully listenable.
