Music Reviews of Taking ChancesMusic Review: Celine soars on "Chances" Rating: 5 Stars
She's done it again folks! I'll admit that I'm a hardcore Celine fan but over the last couple years lost interest in her Vegas stint and Miracle coffee book offerings.
However, I am now in sheer bliss after listening to Celine's 13th English album "Taking Chances". Celine's vocals soar on this album ranging from the lowest of lows as a rock godess to the hightest of operatic highs. This album showcases her true artistic talent and her willingness to stretch her relevancy as a legendary singer in this modern age plagued by one hit wonders and pop garbage. It's a stunning display of artistry and the album takes you through so many waves that in the end leaves you wanting to take yet another ride. Check out; Fade Away, Eyes on Me, Surprise Surpris and That's Just the Woman in ME.
Congrats Celine... this is your best English album in over a decade and I hope it brings much success.
Music Review: B O R I N G SONG AND SINGER Rating: 3 Stars
This just sounds like all other Celine power songs, and what's worse than listening to her belt out another song - seeing the video that goes with. While I will admit that she can sing (on her early material) - the methods that she uses to "emote' her way through some notes leaves me laughing hysterically...must she make those screwy faces while trying to belt out a note?
While others eagerly await her cd - I'll wait for the bargain bin on this one - I much prefer LARA FABIAN for my diva's these days...Celine is over-over-rated and needs to go back to Canada now, we're through listening to you...so stop trying to be the next BABS - it ain't happening!
p.s. Oh Celine...you should go back to the days when you would listen to Laura Branigan and then re-record what she had already made great with her true voice, and not the cat scretching you produce!
Music Review: Celine Dion - Attracting New Audience. Rating: 5 Stars
I'm sick to my stomach to read some of Celine Dions fans reviews. Rating this album 1 to 2 stars out of 5? Are you joking me? Are you angry because your favorite singer is making a change and doing what the album entitles " TAKING CHANCES. "
Let me tell you something. Celine took a Chance with this album and absolutely succeeded. This album is amazing, and has some amazing songs along with an amazing cover from Heart with the song " Alone. "
Celine Dion has appealed to younger listeners as many of my friends have listened to this album and love it.
My favorites on the CD : Alone, Eyes On Me, My Love, Can't Fight The Feeling, Right Next To The Right One, Taking Chances, Skies of L.A.
All tracks are amazing on this album though. 5/5 stars. Every album of Celines is powerful, and she's just continuing her legacy.
Music Review: Wow....just wow!! Rating: 5 Stars
This new album is amazing. It's discribed as more edgy and she's really taking chances but it isn't THAT different then her past albums. There are some surprises though. "Eyes On Me" has a "Bollywood" eastern flavor. It's got some major beat! "This Time" is one of 2 songs which inlisted Ben Moody. It's about an abused women who finally tells her abuser that "this time is the last time!" "The Women In Me" is a scratchy rock n roll Janis Joplin type song that will make you go "OMG is that really Celine!" There's also the gospel-esque "New Dawn" which I love and "Surprise Surprise" which is probably my favorite. "The Shadow of Love" is a great up-tempo song and "Right Next To The Right One" is a folk sounding song that seems strange on this album but it's pretty good nonetheless. All in all this is a very good album totally worth buying.
Music Review: Welcome return from one of the best voices in music! Rating: 4 Stars
She may be getting up there (39) but she still has that voice everyone knows and loves. I bought this album on itunes and enjoy almost every song! She works with some great talents like Kara DioGuardi (Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera) and Ne-Yo (Rihanna, Beyonce). There is a variety of styles on this album ranging from gospel to rock and of course great pop songs that stick in your head. While it's not her best album (I think "Falling Into You" is her overall best) it's still a great listen from beginning to end. My favorite songs are "My Love", "Taking Chances" and "I Got Nothin Left." If only shed work with songwriter Diane Warren again! I highly reccomend this album if you're a fan of Celine Dion. It's definately worth the money and you'll love it hopefully as much as I do. Great return from the queen of pop!
