Music Review: How? Just HOW???

How did this get like this? Last April this song was first released on a vinyl in Germany. Then in June I heard it on 'Future Trance Vol. 32' and passed it off as just another song of this nature. Cascada was underground (especially to the U.S.), but somehow, much to my surprise, maybe a month ago this song, 'Everytime We Touch' started playing on my local "pop" radio station. At first I was happy to hear anything "techno" over the "pop" crap they loop 24/7 here in my corner of southwest Missouri, but it just made no sense to me... why this song? now? 'Future Trance Vol. 32' was a couple volumes ago. This song is good, but in all reality, to my veteran euro-house/hard trance ears, it's basically just generic female vocals and generic lyrics set to a generic hard trance beat... that's it. Don't get me wrong, I like the song, but there's just nothing special about it.
Now that they are somehow releasing an "album" here in the U.S. I see they are just trying to be another D.H.T.--they saw the success of 'Listen to Your Heart' and figure they can do the same thing and sure enough, they have. 'Everytime We Touch' landed a number one chart position and now here they are releasing an album titled after the "hit" single right on the front so they can exploit it's airplay to the full potential and conveniently 'Everytime We Touch' happens to be track #1 on the album. I don't think you could get anymore commercialized than this, and if you can't see it you don't want to.
To me, it's just sad really to see them sell out like this. I love DJ Manian's other works, especially those under the alias, Tune Up! or M.Y.C., but I guess Yanou thought he could land another 'Heaven'... and they have.
I don't own this album, but I've already heard all the essentials on German compilation CDs. It's not really an "album" in a sense--it's more of a compilation of past singles with some added "album tracks"--similar to what Pulsdriver did recently with his appropriately titled debut 'Selected'.
In light of these recent U.S. "hits" ('Heaven', 'Listen to Your Heart', and now 'Everytime We Touch') I foresee the commercialization of techno in the U.S. in the near future. Just look at how U.S. audiences have eaten up these recent hit radio songs. The floodgates have been opened. Witness the downfall of techno as us underground fans know it. And it goes back to money... it always does.
