Music Review: The Original Tracks are Good...but the rest of the CD is just cliche

I did not like the Twilight movie. I love the books, and I ended up buying the movie soundtrack because I like almost all the songs on it. Being a fan of orchestral music, I decided to download the score album.
What a waste of my time!
Twilight: The Score can be summed up in one word -- BLAH. It is EXACTLY like every other score for other movies. The action scenes music is very cliche and sounds just the same as any other vampire flick out there; insipid tracks such as "Phasination Phase" could have been copied out of teenybopper chickie flicks like Melissa Joan Hart's "Drive Me Crazy."
Twilight: The Score DID however have one saving grace -- the Bella/Edward theme is very tranquil, beautiful, and the songs featuring the theme are worth the listen ("Bella's Lullaby," "The Lion Fell in Love with the Lamb," "I Dreamt of Edward" and "Edward at Her Bed"). My only complaint about "Bella's Lullaby" was that it was SUPPOSED to be an extremely complex piano piece, but is instead an orchestra piece, but that was more the movie script's fault than Burwell's (the composer).
Certain other tracks are fairly original and worth the listen:

"Stuck Here Like Mom"
"In Place of Someone You Love"
"Stuck Here Like Mom" was one of the few scenes in the movie that the actress who portrays Bella got right, and the score is actually fairly emotive for that one scene.
My final comment? If you LOVED the movie, Twilight: The Score is most likely something you'll enjoy. If you didn't like the movie, then you'll probably either hate the whole thing or find certain tracks that are worth the listen, like me.
If you're only interested in the quality of the music, DO NOT spend money on this. No matter what other people want to say, hop on the web or visit LimeWire or SOMETHING else, but DON'T waste your money on a CD in which you will likely only enjoy 7 or 8 out of 21 tracks.
In summation: The deeply cliched, boring, and overheard cues favored by Carter Burwell for much of this score tends to float in one ear and out the other, leaving the listener with a general feeling of "Blah." 2/5 stars.
