Music Review: Carmina Burana in 5.1 Surround DVD-Audio

Well if you are reading this review, I am also guessing you know that this DVD-Audio is a OOP, rare find. And when you do find it, the price is up at around $100. (Supply and Demand) It took me three years to find a brand new copy that was at $70.
The Opera is of course Carl Orff's famous "Carmina Burana". I have several different Composer collections that orchestrate this same Opera. What makes this one version stand out is the fact that it is a DVD-Audio in 5.1 Dolby Digital. I wouldn't say Composer Christian Thielemann's version is any better than some of the others. But listening to it in 5.1 is a great experience. (Recorded straight DDD) Carl Orff wrote this opera using just about every instrument known to man with many highs and lows of drama brought through with the great composed music. The original Heavy Metal of his day.
In the years of searching for a Surround Sound version of "Carmina Burana", This is the only one I have found. There are two regular DVD concerts available, but of poor quality or not with this entire opera. I recommend this DVD-Audio.
