Music Review: Decent Recording at Great Price

Here are three of the most renowned solo pieces for clarinet by the most prolific composer for the intrument, Carl Maria von Weber.While Ottensamer did not play the pieces with the charm that some of the other renditions bring out, such as Meyer and Marriner, I still think this is a worthy disc, especially at the great Naxos price.
Von Weber was a Romantic era composer for the clarinet, which for some reason are pretty rare outside of him and Brahms. All his solo works: the 2 concerti and the concertino (the 3 featured on this disc); and the chamber works: the grand duo concertante, the quintet, and the two sets of variations; are all important high school and college repertoire for clarinetists.
