Music Review: TOO BAD

After seeing Carbon / Silicon live on Direct TV, i was exited about the prospect of having a trip down memory lane with the studio CD. I was looking forward to CBGB's or London in '79. No frills, no production, just straight ahead, unpolished punk rock. Not punk rock in the sense of the Pistols or Ramones or even the Stooges, but maybe something akin to old Clash or Generation X.I always listened to and thought "I could learn to play that and really enjoy it." And while i dont expect the band to be a clone, i did get that "good ol time punk rock" feel when i saw the live show.
Unfortunately the Carbon / Silicon studio album is more like '89 than '79.
it is somewhat heavily produced, and by no means a "back to basics" record. it really sounds more like Mick and Tonys' later works (Big Audio Dynamite & Sigue Sigue Sputnik)than the Clash or Generation X.
This is a fun record and it has a positive feel and if you arent too familiar with the "good ol days", you will probably enjoy it.
Oh well, i guess that with the final closing of CBGB, that time is really gone forever..
