Music Review: INCREIBLE!

Ya llego el Cafe Tacvba para que todos le metan el taconazo como se debe.
If you are reading this review, you probably are already aware of the genius that is Café Tacvba. While I would have liked a new studio CD (yes, I know that they just released the last one less than 2 years ago) I was elated to find out that the Tacvbos would be releasing a live concert CD. I've seen them numerous times and so I was hopeful that the energy that one actually experiences at their concerts would be conveyed though this glorious package. And so, the CD arrived yesterday and I immediately started to listen to the CDs and to experience the magic that was the 15 year celebration of Café Tacvba's viaje (journey). When I've seen them live, it's always been in small venues here in the US, and because of that - I've grown accustomed to the more intimate concerts, but the energy that comes though these recordings is phenomenal and it really made me wish that I had been there too (even if there was no way I'd be as close to the band as I have been in the past).
Enough with the jibber jabber. The sound quality is amazing and the performances are spectacular - they suck you right in. While Amazon doesn't list the tracks you can rest assured that the band plays a good amount of tracks from each one of their studio releases. I won't list them all here because I don't want to spoil the fun, but it's a great mix of old and new. If you think Café Tacvba is a great band but have never seen (or heard) them live - get ready...it will blow your socks off. These guys have interminable energy.
So, if that hasn't convinced you...how about this. The price listed on Amazon is $14.99. I've paid more for single CDs! But in this package, you get not one CD, not two CDs, not three CDs, but three CDs and a full length concert DVD! Four Discs for the price of one. And the DVD is just as good as the CD...well maybe not so much...but it definitely is great. The video quality was a little off and at points it is hard to hear because of excess background noise, but honestly, once you get into it - you don't even notice. Plus, the DVD has really neat extras like a tour of the band's studio `El Ensayo'. After timelessly listening to the gems that have come out of that place, it was nice to finally see what it looks like.
So in the end - get it. It's really a steal and its worth every penny.
