Music Review: a definitive collection of byrds

The Byrds! A great folk rock group that epitomizes the 60's. Their music, most straight from the pen of Bob Dylan, defined an era. Protest music that is melodic and very poetic with great vocals by Roger McGuinn and David Crosby. My husband co-host a Saturday radio show and since he didn't have any Byrds music I purchased this for him. This is a definitive collection of the Byrds.Music Review: 12 String Rockin' Flyers

My favorite rock band and also the favorite songs our band played in the 60's. This captures there style, soaring 12 strings undergirded by moving bass lines, with just the right mix of cymbals and not overpowering drums.Has my all-time favorite "I'll feel a whole lot better" and those ones everybody liked "tambourine man" and "turn! turn! turn!"
Music Review: early acid

This CD gives you the early days of "acid rock" straight from the west coast with lyrics that inspire you with the acid vision. Their major hits are there and fun to listen to along with some more obscure but worthwhile tracks. My favorite is "5D" fifth dimension. It comes straight from LSD and illustrates the philosophy behind the acid culture.

There are several more accurate compilations. Why would a 'greatest hits' album substitute the album version, over the original (usually unique) single version? That's like that Beatles greatest hits album with the slow version of 'Revolution' from the white album. I guess it's alright for a casual fan, but not really accurate.Music Review: Byrds Best

A copy of this album has been with me ever since it was released. It is timeless and anyone with a passion for classic rock should one. The songlist is practically a table of contents for a diary of those who lived thru that period of time. These musicians and their songs influenced generations of musicians to come.
