Music Review: Like a zombie, it shambles forward on unsteady feet

I have to whole-heartedly agree with Brian's comment that I expected more of a Nox influence on this soundtrack. I'm part of a game club that often plays Last Night On Earth, a really spectacular zombie survival/strategy game, and although the game actually comes with a CD of its own background music, I felt like it wasn't suspenseful, urgent, or creepy enough for the game. So I did some research and stumbled onto this CD. I had never heard of Nox before, or Buzz Works, but I read all the reviews and was blown away by its 5-star rating and all the positive things customers had to say about it. So I bought it without even thinking about it.
I was so geeked to show it off and not ruin it even for myself, that I left it shrink-wrapped till the next game night and unwrapped it and played it for the first time as we started our game.
If I had to summarize my overall sense of the CD, it would be disappointment. I have since listened to other pure Nox CDs and they really do capture the essence of thematic background soundtrack. Unfortunately, it was not present in this CD. I agree that there are some tracks that shine, but overall, I felt like the radio broadcasts and voice acting were cheesy and distracting, and that most of the music was unremarkable and unmemorable. The whole CD just disappeared into background noise for most of the game, as was testimony when the game was over and I asked what everyone thought about the CD and no one could really say they remembered anything specific about it.
Is it a zombie themed soundtrack? Yes.
Does it have some really good tracks? Yes.
Will it enhance a game night or other themed activity? Not for me.
Would I recommend it to someone else? Probably not, unless maybe they were die hard BuzzWorks fans.
I'll be sticking to Nox CDs from now on when I need good, ambient, background soundtrack for my game nights.

Teaming with Joseph Vargo of Nox Arcana, they set out to capture the terror of a zombie invasion along the lines of the 1938 ''War of the Worlds'' radio broadcast.
