Music Review: This is Butch's Son's Favorite CD of Butch

Well, at least as of spring of 2008 this was Rory's favorite...and that's how I made up my mind to pick this one at the time I got it. (Butch's son is still quite young, under 10 I'd say). I actually have about 4 or 5 CDs of Butch's music. The only downside in my opinion is that many of his CDs have some of the same songs as others. But when you become as big a fan of Butch's music, voice and poetry as I am, you say what the hey, I just hope I can manage to get a copy of everything he's done, repeats or no repeats, because well heck, I'm gonna enjoy hearing those same songs again too.
One thing I particularly love about Butch's songs is that many of them puzzle me at first. I'll enjoy them but not know what to make of them. Then after more listenings I start understanding at least SOME of what he is talking about and then boom, another song of his becomes one of my all-time favorites. It's true that Butch IS a well-kept secret. Will this remain the case for the rest of his life? Well, if he doesn't mind, I sure HOPE so. I like him just as he is. Fame shmame!!!! (smile) This man is SOMETHING. I cannot try to explain but I guess the best I can explain about Butch's magic is that I think he is like what R. Crumb loves to listen to on those only 78s from the '20s and '30s, back before music became an "industry" and got so commercialized. It's a REAL person singing what he REALLY would sing whether you wanted to pay for it or not, but because this is what he has to offer and he just offers it. Thanks, Butch!!!
