Music Reviews of Down the Line: The Rarities (Dig) (Slip)Music Review: Early Buddy Holly tapes Rating: 5 Stars
This collection of early Buddy Holly tapes provides a look at his earliest attempts at writing and covering others material. One can clearly hear his growth from country western/rockabilly, to his final efforts at softer, quiet ballads. A wonderful insight to his tallents.
Music Review: Hard-core collectors only Rating: 2 Stars
Mostly does not sound like this great artist, especially on disc 1, for folks who like home-recorded wire recordings and 78s recovered from swamps. Could be professionally edited into 1 disk without repetition to be mostly listenable.
Music Review: hollyhop Rating: 4 Stars
Nice collection showing how Holly & company developed songs. Some are "basement tape" quality, some much better. For the more serious collector this completes whatever hits package you now have.
Music Review: Timeless music released in throwaway packaging. Rating: 1 Stars
This is great music, that we've been awaiting the release of for years. So Universal packages it in throwaway cardboard sleeves. Mine were scratched right out of the package.
Music Review: pure sweetness Rating: 5 Stars
The home tape-recordings are precious. . . so sweet, so sweet -- thank you Buddy.
(I downloaded the ones i thought were best from Amazon)
