Music Review: Worth every penny

Right from the Loud electric arpegiated cord that opens this album, you know it's going to be awesome. From the rocking "Call it Democracy" to the dark, intense "Strange Waters", and the amazing fingerpicking on "Facist Architecture" and the title track, there's not a lousy track on this album. The recording is clear and well mixed, but still has a raw in your face quality that you would want from a live performance. I own a few of Bruce's records and enjoy them, but this is by far my favorite. I never really get tired of hearing it. Highly recommended.

Recorded live at the Barrymore Theatre in Madison, Wisconsin in May 1997, this EP deftly demonstrates Cockburn's ability to discuss politics without resorting to the sort of dull pedantry that usually overtakes such discussions. As a Canadian singer-songwriter of great renown, he's moved away from the plaintive folk approach and injected his music with unusual rhythmic bounce, allowing synthesizers and other modern technology emblematic of world decline to color his world as he rails against it.
