Music Reviews of CassadagaMusic Review: very bright bright eyes Rating: 5 Stars
i knew of conor oberst and i listened to his prevoius work, but this cd, well this cd is on a whole new level of arrangements and lyrics and virtually everything. the album manages to stay personal and intimate like his older albums but does it in such a vast and grand scale that it is almost impossible to co exist at same time. but it does. and it's beautiful.
Music Review: Great Rating: 5 Stars
I've listened to this album about 10 times through. The first time I was not impressed, I tried to compare it too strictly to his past albums. It has come to be my favorite album by Conor. Great lyrically, as always, with a great sense of freedom throughout the album. He doesn't stick to a particular sound, all sounds can be very different sounding but great.
Music Review: Grew on me. Rating: 4 Stars
This album has more of a country feel than the older ones. I was not that into it at first, most musically and lyrically (Which is really Bright Eyes' strong point).
...but I have to say, after awhile, it grew on me. Now I like it quite a bit for background. I must say though that I love it much more than the solo Conor Oberst album.
Music Review: nice Rating: 5 Stars
Cassadaga is proof of Bright Eyes progression. The song structure has greatly improved, stays on the topic, and as always is very lyrically strong. Still has a country folk vibe to it but has some psychedelic aspects to it now and some pretty good hooks as well. It's different from its predecessors but overall an improvement. highly recommended
Music Review: A Fun Trip to Cassadaga Rating: 4 Stars
A very good album that will have you stomping your feet and humming along to the many good songs here. "Four Winds" is awesome and so are the first 7 tracks. I was under-impressed at first, but repeat listens make this a much better experience. Great lyrics and great playing by the band!
