Music Review: My First CD - 1983 - A Musical and Sonic Delight

This set of piano music was the very first CD I purchased when I bought my first CD player in 1983. It was both a marvelous artistic rendering of modern French (or, in the case of Griffes, French inspired) piano music. Artistically, I agree with the New York Times which called Carol Rosenberger's playing "Ravishing, elegant pianism".

Beyond the artistry of the playing, the main memory I have was of being absolutely blown away by the sonic reproduction of the CD - my first commercial CD experience. The technical mastery of Delos and the Soundstream team led by Stan Ricker, the wonderful acoustics of Bridges Hall and the use of the Bosendorfer Imperial Concert Grand combined with Rosenberger's captivating playing to create an acoustic and musical masterpiece.
