Thanks to the fine EU label Lonehill for releasing another set , actually 2 that are classic jazz recordings never released on CD in this country . Sound quality is excellent and I don't know where they leased the masters from for the out of business Flying Dutchman label, but they sound excellent .
And now to the music . Top drawer stuff with stellar arranging and playing on both lp's . Small group to the fore on Strike Up The Band with every musician very cool and a larger group retooling the jazz classics with a more modern approach on Creole Cooking. Bobby Hackett floats over both proceedings playing beautifully , Bob Wilbur and Zoot Sims swinging on the first lp .
