Music Review: This is perfect!!!

Kid For Today: This one has such a laid back groove... the percussion throughout the song is very interesting, and goes through many subtle changes... the synth lines however make this song so damn gorgeous!!!

Amo Bishop Roden: This is one of my favorite Boards of Canada songs ever... it starts with a couple chords led by the most hypnotic synth sound you are likely to ever hear, which play for the entire song, and on top of these chords other synths are laid down, and the percussion changes subtly... it's highly repetitive, but is never boring, it's just so gorgeous!!!

In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country: This one is gorgeous as well... this song is characterized by the use of a vocoder on a sample which says something like "blah blah blah In a beautiful place out in the country", but it also has lots of sounds of children laughing, and all that... it starts off with an errie little synth atop these children samples, and it creates an errie kind of mood... then in comes the percussion... the vocoder comes in later, and atop of all this more synth lines play... again it's just gorgeous and amazing!!!

Zoetrope: Last, but not least, is Zoetrope... I've read a lot of reviews where people call this a bad song, but it's most definately not... turn it up loud, and listen, really listen to the song... it has almost brought me to tears which is good for me, cause music never makes me cry... the song is just composed of this synth type instrument which kind of sounds like strings, and it simply progresses through different melencholic chords... it has no percussion, but it doesn't need any, it's perfect as it is!!!

Look, if you're a fan of Boards of Canada then you MUST get this... if you haven't heard any Boards of Canada then this might be a good place to start, although it is more laid back and ambient then their albums, it is a small purchase, and is likely to get you hooked to this magnificent group... it's perfect!!!!
