Music Reviews of Audio Day DreamMusic Review: IMO ... Go, Blake! Rating: 4 Stars
Okay. There was a lot of focus on the show comparing Jordin's voice vs Blake's performance ability.
Well - much like the show - the CD's play out the same way.
Blake doesn't have Jordin's voice ... BUT ... his CD is much more listenable. His songs sorta blend together [as in a daydream] but are still distinct, upbeat and fun.
Seeing as Blake penned all but one song on this CD - it's totally HIM. When you hear it - you KNOW it's Blake. I'm not sure how he retained so much creative control on his album compared to previous contestants ... but it soooo shows.
The CD is very fun, and a pleasure to listen to. One of the better Idol debuts in 6 seasons!
Music Review: Excellent variety of songs Rating: 5 Stars
Sit back and listen to this with your headphones on and nothing to distract you, the vocal and instrumental sounds are awesome. Some reviewers in magazines said the CD was all over the place but that is a good thing, enough of boring CDs where each song sounds the same. I love the fact he has some electronic type slower songs along with the upbeat ones. Some are going to compare him to Justin Timberlake, whom I love, but Blake has a better voice, especially when hitting high notes or falsetto, and this CD could kind of be compared to FutureSex/LoveSounds in that it had upbeat songs and slower songs and each song was different, just like Blake's is. This is a fresh addition to the music scene.
Music Review: Wow! Rating: 5 Stars
Wow...this album is absolutely amazing! It is now one of the best albums that I have ever heard! Blake certainly shown us his excellent musical and creative abilities once again. Audio Day Dream is completely him and captures every bit of his style, personality, and ability. The songs that stand out the most for me are "Break Anotha", "What'cha Got 2 Lose", "Here's My Hello", "How Many Words", and "Gots To Get Her". I became a fan as soon as he sang his first song on American Idol, and I believe he was the best contestant to be on the show. Blake is one of the most talented musicians out there, and I'm sure he'll make many more excellent albums in his career. Blake rocks!
Music Review: Audio Day Dream = Wide Awake! Rating: 5 Stars
What a CD! This is the first American Idol CD I've ever bought! (I am a fan of all of them, but I just never bought one.) I was on the fence if I was going to buy this, because of the reviews and low expectations. I am SO GLAD that I went with my gut and gave Blake the benefit of the doubt. The CD is so amazing. Every song is listenable, and there are so many single choices. "Break Anotha" is good, but it is not the best. HE should've picked another single. Anyways, "How Many Words" is the best song on the CD, and could become one of my most listened to songs of the year with only a few days left! The CD flows great, and is very listenable. Lots of "club" and "chill" tracks.
Music Review: it's called beatboxin'! Rating: 5 Stars
Audio Day Dream (cleverly abbreviated A.D.D.) is exactly what I expected (and hoped) Blake to produce. It's upbeat and catchy and really exemplifies his personality and the guy we all fell in love with while watching American Idol. Agreeing with another reviewer, Blake makes sure to keep the beatboxing to somewhat of a minimum since he probably knew it would not appeal to a large audience, but kept it cleverly at the end of songs and at interludes. He does, however (and to my happiness), let loose in one song, "BShorty Grabs Mic" and really show off his personality. Overall, I am VERY pleased with this album and I look forward to many more great things from Blake :)
