Music Review: beautiful, sad music

It sounds like prog-pop really, with perfectly crafted songs containing gorgeous melodies and some electronica. It certainly sounds like Steven Wilson music, and yet this music is special in many unexpected ways.
I like sad music, and this album delivers with a certain whimsy to it's sadness, maybe indicative I guess of deep resignation. Virtually every song is melancholy at least, and downright weepy most times. I'm all about emotional music, and never have I heard sadness so well executed in any music. The emphasis provided by the keyboards and strings in these songs is preposterously tear inducing and flawless.
I love "Scars" where a little electronic, bumpy ditty with suicidal lyrics gets going and then the chorus dramatically blurts out "... all I have left are my precious scars..." accompanied by soaring, pained strings, with a brief suicidal guitar solo in case you haven't reached for kleenex yet. It's a masterpiece of a song.
Hey! There's a song named "Summer"! Well, it can't even get off the ground with a smile. How about a tiny sample "... it's a dark and empty road when you're alone...". Don't get me wrong, you're going to want to hear this, all of this. "Lullaby" has a promising start with a plinking piano, then the strings sweep in and we all hang our heads. Fing amazing.
In the context I have provided, consider song titles like, "Cloudy Now", "Pain", "The Hole In Me", "Where is My Love?". This is priceless treasure.
I'm a guy and I was not weeping along to this music, but it let me know where my heart is, and I am grateful. I can't get enough of this album. You should buy it now, and then I defy you not to reflect on things you don't often consider.
