Music Review: Amazing Concert

I was luck enough to be at one of his tweleve shows at Madison Square Garden. The concert from start finish was great. He played not only old standards that you would expect like Piano Man, and Scenes from an Italian Resturant, but also played songs that I frankly, have not heard in years like Zanzibar, and Downeaster Alexa. This concert proves that even with Billy Joel's recent personal problems he still has amazing talent. I often purchase concert albums with the hopes of recatpuring shows I've seen; sadly, most of the time I am disappionted. Not here, this CD really captures not only Joel's great show, but the enthusiasm the crowd had for him. I highly recomend this CD.Music Review: Nice Live Set From Billy Joel

This past spring Billy Joel proved once again that he is one of the greatest musicians and songwriters of all time by playing 12 straight sold out shows at Madison Square Garden. The majority of his classics are all covered here. The only songs I was disappointed not to see included were "Uptown Girl" ,"Tell Her About It", "The Stranger", and "I Go to Extremes". I think they should have just went all out and included all songs on a 3 or 4 disc set, but that may be asking too much. This is the first CD i've bought for 3 years, its that good and important. I've always been a big Billy Joel Fan... Have all of his albums...have seen him in concert 2 times.....but I'm sorry Billy....on this live album your voice just aint what it used to be. I prefer to listen to some of his original recordings when he still could sing the song in the original key. Example: Only the Good Die Young....he can't hit the high notes anymore so he sings it in a lower key now. "Innocent Man" is another....and the problem is that it's hard to capture the same energy that he had when he originally wrote many of the songs because...let's face it...Billy's much older now.

Incredible Live CD. I have not heard such an excellent Live CD for a long time. Although he is getting old, his singing and playing piano only getting better with his age. And his songs are all precious gems. I really liked the audience sang with him on She's always a woman and the audience sang that famous hook of Piano man. Not all of his hits are included but I really enjoyed very much. If you like his works, pls buy this CD. And you will know what I meant. Although he has not reliesed his album since 1993, this CD proves he is still one of the best songwriters/singers of our time. Highly recommended.Music Review: Another Live Release by Joel.

One good thing about Billy Joel is that he is incapable of producing a bad record. One bad thing about Billy Joel is that he has not produced a record with new material in ten years or more.
Don't get me wrong, this is excellent; all songs are outstanding and Joel is still one of the best in concert nowadays. It is just this is his fourth or fifth live release with the same material. Not to mention the innumerable Greatest Hits collections out there.
If you are a fan buy it if you must; you will not be disappointed. I will still hope for a release with new material.
