Music Review: another dead hero

Listening to old Bill Hicks stuff from way back in the 80s and early 90s it is pretty impressive how well it holds up. I mean listening to this "best of" collection it ain't a stretch to say it sounds like it could have been recorded yesterday. Except for some of the references of course - but the humor, the attitude, the perspective is fresh and perfectly attuned to the crazy world of 2009. Probably will hold up a long, long while. Because art lasts. But I have been amazed at how some legendary comics' stand-up routines don't hold up so well. Again Not the case here! Maybe it also has to do with the fact that Bill Hicks is arguably the greatest influence on comics in the last 20 or so years. Very smart, funny, talented man.
