Music Review: Quality for a low price - what's not to like?

Well, very little actually. This album from the Warner Archives series of early Cosby albums is a great taster for his early work or ideally should be purchased as part of a your growing collection of discs from the comedy legend.
The material here is quite akin to the work he did on Why Is There Air, Wonderfulness and his debut, Bill Cosby Is A Very Funny Fellow Right! and this album therefore concentrates quite a bit on observations of every day life and anecdotes that can't possibly all be true but who cares - this ain't a documentary!
The release is rounded out by some useful liner notes by Allan Sherman who along with Roy Silver produced this warm sounding recording for the price you can get this for nowadays, just whack it into your cart okay?
Description of I Started Out as a Child
Here's a slice of Cosby before he became a major television star. At this point in time, the main appeal of I Started Out as a Child is its innocence. Recorded live at a Chicago club in 1964, the disc is a product of a now-quaint American scene, as yet untouched by the radical social changes that were just around the corner. Cosby pulls in the listener by introducing his only mildly humorous stories in a warm, intimate tone. Then he switches to using a variety of animated voices and vocal sound effects to get laughs from a responsive audience. If you want to enjoy the gentle ambiance and warmth of another time, this CD is for you.
