Music Review: 3 1/2 STARS - Pretty Good Mixtape

CAUTION: Although Amazon.com doesn't list it as such, this is a MIXTAPE, and NOT an album. The full title is "DJ Smallz Presents Big Tuck: Polar Bear" and is being distributed through T-Town Music (...) where you can also purchase this mixtape, as well as others.
I guess I should also warn people, "Polar Bear" is straight DIRTY SOUTH rap, and actually, if you're not from D-Town/Funky Town (that's Dallas and Fort Worth), you're probably not going to be up on this one too much. This is what we listen to down here.
Big Tuck is a monster of a man: he's super swole, all muscle. Although this mixtape isn't great (but then again, what mixtape is?), what really shines on here is Tuck's verbal skills - dude has creativity and nice wordplay. I was able to take a deep breath and relax knowing that I'd be hearing something different! Yes, he talks about cars, hoes, clothes, nice things, layin the smack down on suckas and whatnot, but he does it in a really creative and sometimes really funny way!
I don't expect too many to write reviews on this (perhaps I'll be the only one), but if your ear's to the street and you live down south, specifically Texas, I wouldn't drop $15 on it, but it's something nice to listen to when you're not listening to anything else. Peace.
