Music reviews of Stereopathic SoulmanureMusic Review: Different versions???
Huge Beck fan, but this is of course not his best work. It's flim-flam that should be bought cheap and only if you're a diehard fan, like the rest of us. I'd just like to report that the last reviewer must own a different cd than mine, because mine has tracks that seem to be "switched". The album is weird: a few songs have lyrics that are the same as some of the names of other (different) songs on the album. Make sense? For instance, the actual song named "Satan Gave Me A Taco" is the accordian instrumental, about one minute long. Again, the song where Beck sings, "Satan gave me a taco/And it made me really sick..." is actually titled Modesto. There is no song actually named "No Money, No Honey" here, but there's a song where an old guy sings that phrase repeatedly with Beck in the background, and it's called "8.6.82". "One Foot in the Grave" is a crappy little rock tune with twangy guitars and high-pitched vocals. "Aphid Manure Heist" is what the little harmonica ditty is called on my version. The album also has three untitled tracks at the very end (after "Modesto"); they're filled with (besides the one song at the beginning of the third untitled track) mostly weirdo crap, yelling, loud noise, or silence. "Cut 1/2 Blues" is unlistenable and just plain loud, banging craziness from the one-and-only. The hilarious live tune where Beck pays homage to Ozzy is called, on my album, "8.4.82". There are probably a few more oddities like these, but I just thought people browsing might like to know that there may be TWO different versions of this strange album floating around out there, and the one I own is confusing.
