Music Review: If the CZAR could sing......

I had the occassion to meet Barry & Batya. Batya, in particular, was very rude and
demanding when I tried to help her find various services that she and her child
needed, in a church that they were performing at in northern Colorado, several years back.
You could ask, what does this have to do with the music?
I am very auditory and it is difficult for me to separate these two
"listening experiences" I had with her.
When I hear her voice I think," what a great voice she has"....
Then I remember her voice when she was being so demanding, and so rude.
This rude behavior was/is her choice, how she treats people--strangers.
A stranger who was trying to be of help, and it does negatively affect how I
experience her voice on this album (or any others of theirs).
Perhaps she thinks that no one will notice how awful she acts.
She apparently doesn't see herself as an emissary for her own publicity.
I wish she had been nice, and that my experience with her had been pleasant
or somehow different than what it was. I truly loved their music
until that experience. I actually still do, but I have to WORK at separating myself
from what the album is, and what happened with her.
Why did I buy this? I had forgotten all this until I listened to this
album again. Then it all came back.
As the rabbi said in Fiddler on the Roof,
"May G-d bless and keep the away from us!"
But if the "czar" can sing perhaps there is an ounce of redemption there somewhere.
