Music Review: Great Cd to Have of Barbra's
Rating: 5 Stars

This Cd is really great to have if you like Barbra alot ! or if you like her occasionaly. This is a perfect Cd with all her great Duets with people like Sinatra , Ray Charels , KIm Carnes ,Celine Dion , Donna Summers ,Judy Garland ,and Barry Gibb.
First of all every duet on this Cd is great having some great Duets with Barbra's great Voice like " No More Tears , One Less Bell To Answer , Tell Him , Guilty , Get Happy/Happy Days are here agian. The New Duets are also great with Barry Manilow & Josh Groban , In my opinioun the Barry Manilow one was better then the Groban one is becuase of the song writing for " I wont be the one to let go (with Barry). IF you own The Esstential Records .. this would be also great to have with it , So buy this Album you will love it also if you like Streisand consider buying Just For The Record 4 Cd Set or The Esstential Recordings

Music Review: Duets ~ Barbra Streisand
Rating: 5 Stars

First, I am not a diehard Barbra Streisand fan like most of the reviewers here. I have always appreciated her vocal spirit and turn of phrase. She is a star of epic proportions and certainly is larger than life in all of the selections on this disc. I appreciate the remastering of these great duets so that we can hear her music the way it was intended, exposing nuance and that "special" something that can create great harmony. Secondly, I just have to say the Virginia wierdo that reviewed Barbra's political views needs to watch the inbreeding going on over there because you are using this space to spew your own sensless political view. Get out there and speak at a Bush Rally and stop knocking what others know in their hearts is best for them!
Lastly, expect a marvelous music set on this compilation and let these great stars entertain you.

Music Review: Great CD Cover, Average CD
Rating: 4 Stars

If only the new Streisand "Duets" cd was as brilliant as its cover. To be fair- the cd is fine listening. It presents a career retrospect of duets that Streisand began in the early 60s. Barbra really began to understand the power and commercial potential of duets after 1978's enormously successful "Flowers" duet with Neil Diamond. The tracks featuring Kim Carnes and Don Johnson are particularily dated and trivial, but others are just weak songs with weak duet performances (Manilow, and Sinatra to name a few). Thankfully Mr. Gibb, Mr. Charles, Ms. Garland, Mr. Crawford, Mr. Mathis and others brighten the overall project. I too would like to see Ms. Streisand duet with others like Linda Ronstadt, Sting, Tony Bennett, or others on a NEW cd- but thanks Barbra for a sampling of the past- now let's look to the future!

Music Review: For a few chilling moments
Rating: 5 Stars

Much of this is not the greatest Steisand, though Streisand almost always is a very great and moving singer. But certain moments here sent a chill down the spine. Hearing Judy Garland 's voice and then Streisand's was such a moment. Arguably the two greatest female ballad singers all time. There was another moment just hearing Sinatra and Streisand together though their collaboration on 'I've got a Crush on you' is far from what each is capable of. I remember the Barry Gibb collaboration and it still has its pleasantness. Her duet with Josh Groban is a nice piece. The opening riff of her duet with Ray Charles is a bit overdone. Barbara is an entertainer who gives it all but here it sounds as if she is schmaltzing it up a bit.
On the whole though her quality as a singer prevails here as it does in most of her work.

Music Review: A CD THAT'S PURE BS. AND THAT'S A GOOD THING.
Rating: 5 Stars

To call this a "new" Barbra CD is misleading. It is new in the sense that two of the songs has never been released before --- the bubble-gummy "I Won't Be the One to Let Go" with Barry Manilow and the poignant "All I Know of Love" with Josh Groban --- but it's best to think of this as time spent with Babs and buddies. (Why Josh is considered a "special guest" on the CD's TV commercials is quixotic.) It's neat to have all these tunes on one "limited edition" CD, especially the seldom-heard pairing of Babs and Harold Arlen on "Ding-Dong! The Witch is Dead!" Yet it would have been nice if Babs had penned some recollections about duet, instead of dismissing the talent she shared with a one sentence thank you. All in all, "Duets" is a CD that's pure BS ... a CD guilty of egotism. And talent.
