Music Review: a Solid Holiday offering

This is not a bad collection to add to you holiday play list. It does include, especially early on, many album tracks that were popular during the late 1960s and into the 1970s, when (unlike C&W acts) Rock & Roll Bands did not routinely put out long playing record albums of Christmas music, just the occational EP or double sided-Christmas single (Eagles / Elton) or a special festive track, like Greg Lake (ELP) or Roy Orbison or Boney M.

Some of these are tunes (Wham / Beach Boys) found on a meriad of compilations, but others such as Roy Wood and Euroglifders are not easily found, especially here in the good ol' U.S. of A. The majority -but not all- appear to be British or European acts, so as a collector of holiday songs, a Mike Oldfield instrumental is not something as common as "Little Saint Nick", Stateside.

There are a few less than classic moments by less than obsure acts like "Bros" (almost unlistenable), but there are enough rarities collected here to warrent a mild thumbs up to folks like me , who simply look for chrsitmas music. Good or bad but especially rare.
