Music Review: Backyard Band Tears The Club Up (4 Stars)

Speaking as a former bouncer at The Black Hole back in 1999, I can say that they literally tear the club up. Whenever they played "Tear The Club Up" I always got a little nervous because I knew the people in the club were going to go crazy. That's what this CD does to you when you listen to it though. My job at The Black Hole is what actually turned me into a BYB fan. I wasn't really feeling them until then. I found myself dancing more than I was working. And that's what makes this CD great. It'll make you get up out your seat and shake your ass or throw some elbows. Tracks like "Tear The Club Up", "Skillet", and "I Heard It's The Bomb" will make even the most civil person lose their mind in the club. Tracks like "Life, Money, Struggle, Crime" show that even when they try to mellow things out they still remain funky. This has to be considered one of the best go go releases ever. Maybe not THE best, but it's pretty close. Whether you're into go go or not, this CD will bring out the party animal in you. I advise all go go heads and party animals to go get it if you haven't heard it already. This is arguably their best CD ever.
