I have been a Virgil Fox fan for many years, having been introduced to him (via records) by a very dear organ and piano friend and teacher. I believe she knew him personally; when we heard him in person in Portland, Oregon he even came back to the rear of the auditorium to greet her. He was quite the showman and made a huge impression on me I have collected many of his recordings over the years, including at least 2 or 3 of the Command series he did after leaving Capitol. I have treasured those vinyl discs so I am very happy to have them remastered to cd. The sound on these cds is more than acceptable and contains 4 of Virgil's Command vinyl records...what a treasure trove! The performances are...well vintage Virgil with that inimitable use of dynamics that characterized his playing, i.e., from triple piano to triple (or QUADRUPLE) forte. In any case it is all very enjoyable and a great way to remember our beloved showman and wizard of the organ. I for one am gratified that we organ lovers were blessed with his presence and glorious talent and that we have recordings like these to celebrate his having been among us for all too brief a time. Soli Deo Gloria!
