Music Review: sweet sounds for little ears

Containing small bites of some of Beethoven's most melodious compositions, arranged for a trio, this is a nice way to introduce a small child to "The Classics" and provide soothing sounds for a baby. The Music Box Orchestra consists of:
Tom Nazziola / piano and keyboard
Laura Koepke / bassoon
Bill Weisbach / percussion and keyboard, as well as having done all the orchestrations.
The emphasis is on the bright and sparkling pieces, played in the higher octaves, which baby is sure to like, and mom and dad will find pleasing too.
The ominous first notes of the 5th Symphony are made to sound light and playful, and the pieces are very short, to accommodate baby's attention span; the longest selection is the 4th movement of the 9th Symphony, at 3'14.
Though I would have preferred perhaps two themes from the piano concertos to replace tracks # 17 (a tad heavy) and # 19 (too complex and boisterous, and breaks the mood of the previous tracks), this is a clever concept, and would make a cute gift idea for baby's first birthday or Christmas. The Baby Einstein Music Box Orchestra have also made similar discs for the music of Bach and Mozart. Total time is 35'46
