Music Review: Respect the Talent

One of the things I always favored about Avril Lavigne is that she can actually sing. She's the atypical pop star.
And "pop star" is exactly what she is, because 'The Best Damn Thing' took her away from the alt rock style of 'Under My Skin' and the borderline pop rock/punk style of 'Let Go.' Personally, I'm not a fan of her new stuff, but then again, I'm a guy in my twenties. I was never really on board with the whole sugar pop music.
So 'Avril Live Acoustic' is a good combination for me: It's Avril's older stuff and it's unplugged, a facet of music I have an uncanny love for. It accentuates a singer's most genuine talent, and I never realized until I listened to these 6 tracks how good Avril Lavigne's voice really is.
The only downfall, I'd say, is the backing vocals in a couple of the songs, most notably "He Wasn't" (granted it's only in the chorus). I would've rather just had Avril singing by herself. However, it doesn't have any effect on my perception of this album. I was very impressed with it and it's one of my more sound music investments in recent memory.
