Music Review: More than essential..

Never in my time did I believe that I would be buying 2 CD's full of every Asia track from the John Wetton years or even that a compilation like this would ever be conceived of and available.But you know what, whatever price you pay for this collection still would not be enough as one cannot ask for a more finer assemblance of recordings that still evoke strong emotional sensations within me. What even prompted me further to purchase 'Anthologia'(I have all 4 Asia albums on vinyl,cassette, and CD) was the inclusion of the bonus tracks 'Lyin' to Yourself', 'Ride Easy'(which I had first heard on a 45 in a neglected bowling alley jukebox), and the uplifting 'Daylight' which I was very disappointed to not find on the 'Alpha' CD (as I had wore out my cassette version as a kid.)
I have the highest respect for the Asia incarnation as it is today with the addition of John Payne as lead vocalist, but my true admiration lies with John Wetton and his performance on the first Asia album, which today still remains the jewel of my collection. In simple terms, you cannot be disappointed with this purchase if you are the dedicated Asia fan. I find it pleasing to pop it into my car CD player and let the songs play fully through and not having to reload another CD. And the sound..To hear 'Without You', 'Wildest Dreams', 'My Own Time(I'll Do What I Want)' or 'Countdown to Zero' in crisp, clear definition is an experience for the ears that to me brings back countless and deep memories. To add to all of this, one receives a magnificent cover and extensive liner notes which include the band's history and song chart information.
If you already have all 4 of these wonderful and moving albums on CD (Asia,Alpha,Astra, and Then and Now), pick this up also. Your friends will probably ask why and then you can tell them that you can never have enough CD collections of one of the grandest supergroups of all time.
