Music Review: Great exercises, very bad production quality

I've had Ariella's first two CDs for ages and only recently bought 3 and 4. The exercises are all brilliant, but I was very disappointed in the recording quality of disc 4. (That's why I'm only rating Disc 4 as a 3 out of 5.) The sound is reasonably clear initially then suddenly sound quality changes significantly and inconsistently on the later tracks. I can understand that each exercise was probably recorded at different times, but I think some quality assurance should be conducted to ensure the sound quality is good and consistent.
The print quality of the discs is also poor. This is a less important issue, but considering I decided to fork out the extra cash to get the discs instead of downloading the MP3s, I expected to get something that looked like a professional product rather than something I could have burnt and printed myself.
Having got the gripe out of the way, I think all the exercises are fantastic. With discs 3 & 4, Ariella has separated each disc into two sections. The first with her guiding you through, and the second where you can work with only the piano scales (without her voice). Occasionally, in the first section, I find myself wishing she would sing through the scales more than just once or twice, especially for the harder exercises.
I have regular private singing lessons, but these really are a brilliant supplement when you need to practice on your own.
