Music Review: Into the Magic Night...

Angelo Badalamenti's BLUE VELVET score is evocative, distinctive, and eclectic, and arguably as brilliant as his famous TWIN PEAKS themes. It's a weird yet smooth confection of stirring mood-pieces, finger-snapping jazz jams, and clever variations on recurring melodies and motifs.
But the greatest moments here are, without a doubt, Roy Orbison's spine-tingling "In Dreams" (the original version, and not the Lynch-produced remake) and Julee Cruise's dream-like "Mysteries of Love," written by David Lynch and Badalamenti, and often cited as one of the greatest make-out songs ever. I'm serious!
Also, Amazon visitors should be aware that the product description mislabels who sings which songs. In most cases, the credited singer performs the song AFTER the one indicated. For instance, Cruise is credited with singing "Love Letters," but of course she actually sings "Mysteries of Love."
