Music Review: Great compilation from one of the best 70's groups...

I may be deaf, but I still can enjoy the music from my youth (because memory fills in the blanks and it doesn't matter how high I yank the amps!)...I can't go deafer than I am now unless they pull the auditory nerve. To me America brings back the early 70's with the boys returning from the Vietnam War to boos, Nixon making an idiot out of himself, crowds in San Francisco in hippie outfits, Gunnysack dresses, and purple houses on the hills of SF (Older victorian homes mind you).

Some people have criticized the lyrics in some America songs like Horse with No Name. They obviously didn't know what the band was talking about and didn't bother to find out. Phooey to the critics. Anyway, since when do all lyrics have to make sense? The music, the driving beats, the blending of three great voices bring back summer and long trips, and California of my youth. I had to laugh when they wrote in the pamphlet that came with this compilation about getting sick of finding out everyone was from California. We thought so too...until we moved back to Pittsburgh for a few years, then back to CA.

I don't usually miss CA much because it has changed so much, but listening to this does make me miss CA. Great music...I'll probably be seventy years old and still listening to this stuff at high enough levels to drive all the kids batty!
