Music reviews of Into The Rush [CD/DVD]Music Review: Couldn't be more proud of my favorite singers! Rating: 5 Stars
These girls are my favorite singers in the whole world, and I have seen them twice in concert, and I would do so much to see them again.
This album is also my favorite album of all time. Every single one of these songs has a message, great vocals, and a catchy melody. These inspirational singers did great on this album.
1. Chemicals React (A.J. Michalka; Aly Michalka; Antonina Armato; Tim James) - 2:55 - Rating: five stars. Genre: rock. Song meaning: it's about a couple that are meant to be and are a great couple. Mostly: the singing parts are evened out.
2. Shine (A.J. Michalka; Aly Michalka; Antonina Armato; Tim James; Nick Scapa) - 3:25 - Rating: five stars. Genre: Christian. Song meaning: it's about God and how wonderful He is and how they want to be more like Him. Mostly: even parts.
3. Never Far Behind (Evens, Paul Robert; Jeremy Bose; Matt Bronleewe) - 3:20 - Rating: five stars (my favorite song of all time). Genre: Christian. Song meaning: it's about how God sees the real you and how He will be always "never far behind". Mostly: even parts.
4. Something More [New Version] (A.J. Michalka; Aly Michalka) - 3:40 - Rating: four stars (I like the regular version way better on "Into the Rush"). Genre: pop. Song meaning: it's love song about how a girl met a guy and really think they're good together. Mostly: even parts.
5. Collapsed [New Version] (Aly Michalka) - 2:57 - Rating: four stars. Genre: pop. Song meaning: it's about a girl who didn't really know that the guy she liked liked her back, so she messed around, and now he's gone and she is singing about it. Mostly: even parts.
6. Rush (A.J. Michalka; Aly Michalka; D. James; L. Haywood) - 3:13 - Rating: five stars. Genre: rock. Song meaning: you should be yourself and live your life with excitment and love. Mostly: even parts.
7. No One (A.J. Michalka; Aly Michalka; C. Tornes) - 2:57 - Rating: five stars. Genre: soft rock. Song meaning: you should want to be yourself and you are special. Mostly: even parts.
8. On the Ride (A.J. Michalka; Aly Michalka; A. Dodd, A. Watts) - 3:33 - Rating: four stars. Genre: soft rock. Song meaning: it's about having a great sister and how life has many obsiticles but she'll always be by your side. Mostly: even parts.
9. In a Second (A.J. Michalka; Aly Michalka; L. Haywood; D. James) - 3:36 - Rating: five stars. Genre: soft rock. Song meaning: it's a love song about a girl who wants to know if the guy she loves loves her back. Mostly: A.J.
10. Speak For Myself (A.J. Michalka; Aly Michalka; A. Watts; A. Dodd) - 3:10 - Rating: four stars. Genre: pop. Song meaning: you should stand up for yourself when people treat you badly. Mostly: even parts.
11. Out of the Blue (A.J. Michalka) - 2:58 - Rating: five stars. Genre: soft rock. Song meaning: it's about how a girl and a boy are forbidden to be together but love each other. Mostly: A.J.
12. I Am One of Them (AJ Michalka; Aly Michalka) - 3:29 - Rating: five stars. Genre: pop-rock. Song meaning: it's supports awareness for kids who are kidnapped and killed and/or raped and part of the earnings go to help foundations that help that. Mostly: even parts.
13. Sticks and Stones (A.J. Michalka; Aly Michalka; Antonina Armato; Tim James) - 3:48 - Rating: five stars. Genre: pop-rock. Song meaning: it's about bullies and how they are just the same as us. Mostly: even parts.
14. Protecting Me (A.J. Michalka) - 2:59 - Rating: four stars. Genre: pop. Song meaning: it is about their parents (I knew that because in the album booklet it says about "Protecting Me" : "to our amazing parents".) Mostly: even parts.
15. Slow Down (A.J. Michalka; Aly Michalka; A. Watts; A. Dodd) - 3:54 - Rating: five stars. Genre: rock. Song meaning: it is about a guy who is rushing a relationship too fast. Mostly: even parts.
16. Do You Believe in Magic [Cover] (Sebastian, John B.) - 2:13 - Rating: four stars. Genre: pop. Song meaning: it talks about the "magic" which is, in this case, more of love, fun, happiness, and music. Mostly: even parts.
17. Walking on Sunshine [Cover] (Kimberly Rew) - 3:55 - Rating: five stars. Genre: pop. Song meaning: a girl finds out the boy she loves loves her back and she's really happy.
HOW I KNOW "SHINE" AND "NEVER FAR BEHIND" ARE CHRISTIAN SONGS:
1. it says so on wikipedia
2. it says so on their concert brochure.
3. it says "God" instead of "yeah" in the last chorus before "is never far behind" in "Never Far Behind".
FOR PARENTS: (A scale from 1 to 10, 10 being the highest/worst)
bad language - 0 there is no bad language
sexual content - 0 there is no sexual content, not even in the love songs.
violence - 1
1. one example of violence is that they talk about bullies.
adult content - 0 there is no adult content
Overall, I LOVE this album, these songs, and Aly & A.J.!

Description of Into The Rush [CD/DVD]The energy and spirit the sisters Aly & AJ's bring to their music colors the entire album Into The Rush. Aly and AJ worked with a variety of producers on Into The Rush including some of the music industry's biggest. "We've learned a lot from all of them," says Aly of the producers. "Some things we like...some things we don't like. It's all a part of the process. It's important that we have our own voice and that our emotions are a part of all of our music. This is why we're working with different producers, so that we can experience different ideas." Their first single may have been the classic cover "Do You Believe In Magic," but the sisters have written all of the songs on this. And though they may be young teens, when it comes to writing songs, they aim high. "We want our songs to be fun, but we also want to write about deeper issues that make people think and issues that we can all relate to in one way or another," says AJ. Aly and AJ's song "I Am One of Them" tackles the tough subject of child kidnappings. They want to bring awareness by encouraging kids to look out for one another and use precautions and safety measures to empower them. AJ contributed a track called "Protecting Me," a song featured in a "Phil of the Future" episode, which addresses the vulnerable nature of being a kid today. Says Aly: "We want to let kids know they have the power to protect themselves and one another." Aly and AJ have also written songs that address the issues of relationships, heartaches, staying true to yourself and celebrating your own uniqueness. You don't have to have a sister to score a hit on the pop charts, but sometimes it sure does help. At a time when the Simpson, Spears, Duff, and Lohan girls are steadily oozing sisterly love across teen magazine spreads and whatever other medium will have them, sending a pair of tight-harmonizing teen queens into the studio to take on the world together makes a certain sort of business sense. Never mind, for a moment, that it's the kind that generally turns the stomach of music snobs, because the girls appointed to the task--Aly & AJ (full names: Alyson and Amanda Joy Michalka)--display genuine vocal talent. Aly, the star of the Disney Channel's Phil of the Future and AJ, a sometime presence on shows such as Six Feet Under and General Hospital, already lit up the soundtrack to Now You See It (a Disney Channel Movie) with their rendition of the '60s chestnut "Do You Believe in Magic," and Into the Rush arrives as solid reinforcement. Leadoff track "Rush" pelts listeners with a feel-good, sweet-sounding salvo on keeping it real, "Speak for Myself" aims itself insouciantly at stifling parents, and "I Am One of Them" takes down the self-importance factor a notch by addressing the issue of missing children. That all these songs save the last two ("Do You Believe In Magic" and another can't-miss '60s fave, "Walking On Sunshine") were written by Aly & AJ bodes well for them--Hilary Duff started writing and singing at Hollywood Records, too. --Tammy La Gorce
