ALWAYS SOMETHING THERE: A BURT BACHARACH COLLECTOR'S ANTHOLOGY 1952-1969, MADE IN THE EU, ACE RECORDS LTD, 2008, 1 CD, 26 TRACKS.
I first signed onto Amazon a couple years ago to expand my Burt Bacharach collection.
I've seen Burt Bacharach perform live five times, talk to him twice, and own over 60 of his CD's.
Last July I jumped at the opportunity to pre-order a copy of his new CD, Always Something There: A Burt Bacharach Collector's Anthology 1952-1969, when Amazon arranged to have it delivered in time to celebrate his 80th Birthday on May 12th.
On Burt Bacharach's Birthday my family cooked and ate huge hamburgers while listening to his new disc.
YEAH, BABY!
It's a marvelous collection of rarities that are hard to find anywhere else and is a good companion piece alongside the book, Burt Bacharach Song By Song.
The Amazon Product Review and first two initial Customer Reviews speak volumes.
After purchasing the new Anthology, I sat down and alphabetised ten of his CD's, song by song, and count how many rarities appear on other product installments and which songs are ultra rare.
Always Something There: A Burt Bacharach Collector's Anthology 1952-1969 tops the list for the largest number of hard to find recordings in one place.
A big piece of the cake. A teriffic way to cut loose and have some fun.
The Retro color artwork in the shape of big balloons on the front cover remind me what it felt like to celebrate his 80th Birthday.
The Burt Bacharach star gets bigger and shines brighter all the time.
I fail to draw any comparisons. Burt Bacharach is an original.
I look forward to purchasing his new CD he recently made in Australia.

Description of Always Something There: A Burt Bacharach Collectors' Anthology 1952-1969
Collectors' pieces and original versions from the deep catalogue of one of the 20th century's greatest pop tunesmiths.Burt Bacharach turned 80 on May 12, 2008. This CD could be regarded as a birthday tribute. It fits nicely with similar projects in the Ace catalogue, our songwriter and producer series. All tracks are completely new to Ace CD, and most are new to CD release, period. It features a £400.00 Northern rarity (Dean Barlow) and contains Burt's first recorded composition (Nat 'King' Cole, 1952). The vocalists on the Burt & the Backbeats track are sisters Dionne and Dee Dee Warwick - from before they launched their solo careers.
While most of the songs feature lyrics by Hal David, the CD contains rare examples of songs written by Burt with other co-writers. Bacharach never goes out of fashion, however obscure or lesser known the repertoire might be.
