Music Review: *sigh*

Short review:
Waste of money. Go out and buy Goddamnit, Maybe I'll Catch Fire, From Here to Infirmary, Good Mourning, Alkaline Trio, or Remains. If you already have them, buy them again and cherish the times when Alkaline Trio was amazing. I'm a huge fan, and want to like it, but they just don't have it anymore. Maybe someday they'll come back and write something impressive.
Long review:
What happened to Alkaline Trio?! Not that this is some kind of sudden change in music, they've definitely been going downhill for quite a while now, but I expected something a little better than this.
The album starts off with "This Addiction" and sounds promising, the intro into the songs is definitely a bit of a reminder of old Trio, but once the chorus comes in, it just sounds terrible... Matt has given up on his defining raspy vocals and tried out his new clean ones, which really just don't do it for me, not to mention the horrible lyrics.
Next comes "Dine, Dine My Darling" which is a bit more enjoyable than the single. Maybe it's just because I don't have to listen to Skiba's voice anymore, but rather get to hear Dan's. While there isn't much to this song (not that there's ever much to their songs), it's pretty catchy.
"Lead Poisoning" is yet another one with terrible lyrics and horrible vocals to along with it. We also get to hear some interesting trumpet parts, and while it seems cool at first, it's ruined by the rest of the song.
And then we have the song with the complete rip off of a Kelly Clarkson riff! At least they picked a catchy one to copy. But all in all, "Dead on the Floor" isn't too bad. Matt just needs to keep his vocals in a lower key like in this song, because when he hits those higher notes, it's just awful.
Then comes a song with a perfect example of his crappy high notes. "The American Scream" has the same flaws of the others (bad lyrics, bad vocals), and it's not even catchy.
As much as I like Dan's vocals, his lyrics in "Off The Map" aren't the greatest, mainly the first few lines. This one's not too bad though.
"Draculina" ...ew. Terrible. Nothing more to say.
Cue the '80s synth. "Eating Me Alive" isn't very good either. And Skiba now sounds awkward cussing, there just doesn't seem to be any emotion behind these lyrics.
Same complaint as everything else on "Piss and Vinegar."
"Dorothy" sounds somewhat darker than the rest of the album, but definitely doesn't make it any better. Just another average song on this sad excuse for an Alkaline Trio album.
Well, at least the album ends with a great song. "Fine" is a pretty great song. Dan sings, which already makes up for Skiba's vocals, the lyrics are still sub par, but I'll get over it since Andriano isn't writing lyrics like "Draculina."
The two new electric bonus tracks are a bit better than the rest of the album, but nothing worth paying extra for. As for the acoustic, you're not missing out on anything at all because the electric versions are much better, and they're already crap, with the exception of "Fine" which is still a pretty solid song.
In all, it's really not worth the extra money for the bonus, or for the album at all, but if you're a dedicated Trio fan like me, you're of course going to buy it anyway, despite the fact it sucks. I tried to like it! I swear I did! It's just bad...
