Music Review: Is there more than one version of the Single CD?

Okay, let me just say that I'm not a fan of Alanis Morissette. However, after hearing the syncopated synth groove on the radio, it was one of those songs I just had to have. So, as in similar situations, I decided to buy the single CD. To save some money, I bought it used (via Amazon). Unfortunately, "that" version of the song was not even on the Single CD that I received. Also, stamped on the front is, "FOR PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY. SALE OR OTHER TRANSFER IS PROHIBITED. MUST BE RETURNED ON DEMAND OF RECORDING COMPANY." Well so much for that. Just now I checked back on Amazon and discovered that there are two versions of the Single CD. One has three songs, and the other has four or five. I suspect that the version with only three songs is the one to get if you are looking for the radio version. The "PROMOTIONAL" version CD I received actually has five tracks (the last being a more concise - and thus better - version of the Claude Le Gache version.) Only the fifth track is worth listening to at all, but is not even close to as good as the radio version. The other four tracks are ridiculously drawn out and monotonously looped like a broken record. The tracks are as follows. (Compare the lengths to that of the previous reviewer.)

By the way, after being disappointed with this single, I ended up getting Alanis Morissette The Collection, a kind of "Best of" type of CD, which I knew had the version of "Crazy" I was after. In hindsight I would should have looked more carefully to determine whether there was another version of the single CD out there. I'm not certain it's on the three-song single CD, but it's probably a good bet. While, I do like a few from her "Collection" CD, there's just something bitchy, slutty, and well for a lack of a better word, feminist, about her that doesn't make make me find most of her music attractive. Oh, and in case you were wondering, yes I am a guy. Now I might even have to see about purchasing the other single version just so I don't have to skip through all her crappy stuff. (But that would mean I would have bought three of her CD's.) There is one thing I can hand it to her though; she can really, uh. . .belt it out. Her emotion really comes through and even if I don't like much of it, it does relate to so many of today's troubled female generation. That said, there are so many others that could do just as well on "Crazy" if not better.

Because this particular single version does not have the airplay version of Crazy, I am rating it low.
