Music Review: HAWKSHAW'S GROOVE'S ARE SOME OF THE FINEST ORGAN FUNK 5 Stars
Alan Hawkshaw recorded a ton of cool grooves from the 1967 through 1975 era for the KPM library group and this represent's some of the very finest available anywhere from the day. I remember these groove's very well and they still ring true today. They are simply timeless and as the title says, essential. Hawkshaw offers the pure sound of the day, mod, swinging London at it's height. If you like that ultra funky swinging sound packed with blistering organ and horns and funky, tight and solid bass and drums then this is a must for your collection. He also did a large amount of soundtrack work and composing from that period as well as later works too. One such fine example is a film titled (Groupie Girl) which is a cool film and the sound scoring is simply brilliant. Give this one a spin, you won't regret it and may just become a huge fan as myself. I rate this a screaming 5 stars and very highly recommend it for your collection.
