Music Review: Stop crying...

Look, Greatest Hits albums are inherently cash grabs by the record studios. I seem to recall a story where Joe Perry didn't even know this album existed until a fan shoved it in front of him to sign. That said, I'll always have a soft spot for Aerosmith's Greatest Hits, as it introduced me to the band (on cassette, no less) and it made me want to dive deeper into the catalog. Sure, the radio versions offered here are shorter -- once I bought "Toys in the Attic" I was shocked at "Sweet Emotion's" treatment here. But now that I've got the full version on a billion different comps and the original album, I'm actually pretty glad to have something different here.

Even before their second fling with the pop mainstream, Aerosmith were one of Top 40's favorite hard-rock bands, so ubiquitous--and so funky--that Run-D.M.C. were vociferous fans.
