Music Review: most fitting adaptation

can't find enough words to really express this playlist - but- here goes:
disappointed 'girl wasn't included as it opens the movie. 'all my loving' is jim sturgess' first full song and his intent is on assuring his girl his trip overseas is purely upright and he'll be right back. Great idea! 'i want tyo hold your hand' is t.v. carpio's intro song and its ambiguity is not really apparent untl later. A capella done with a twist? evan rachel wood's intro song 'it won't be long' is very pleasing although you know it will be broken as her character is doomed to no future with her prom guy. 'i've just seen a face' is jim's second song and his rendition holds such promise for soon to be star-crossed lovers. 'let it be' is such an apt tune for those midsixties turmoil that accompanied the film's depicturing of changing values. Both timothy t. ? and carol woods take are very poignant. joe cocker's triple character rendition of 'come together' was a perfect transition for the promise of hopeful things to come. It fit well in the scheme of the collage of feelings coming then. bono's 'i am the walrus' was fitting in that it showed our ability to leap, sight unseen, into new vistas of thinking and being. jim's third song is 'something' and again brings promise to our expectations of relationships. truly, man is uplifted by woman. dana and martin perform a fitting duet of lost opportunity and new promise in 'oh! darling! jim's fourth song is 'strawberry fields forever' and its background is the strain of relationship going into crisis. It is shown covering our star-crossed lovers ups-and-down while also depicting the war effort at home and in vietnam where 'max' is trying to cope wth killing to survive. Well contrasted imagery. jim's fifth song is the title track 'across the universe' and depicts 'jude's' situation as an outsider in america and his relationship with 'lucy,' which he wants to maintain, yet, knowing it has to change as his job demands same. Very surreal imagery, here. dana's second song is 'helter skelter' that fully explodes as a "janis joplin" rocker and the many ups and downs that been occurring throughout the film by this time. More good imagery. joe anderson's 'happiness is a warm gun' is such a poetic license at this time in the movie as it depicts 'jude's' ex girlfriend perception of lost love, 'max's' drug dependency, and all the lost opportunities since the beginning. evan's second song 'blackbird' is a lament for the lost relationship for her character 'lucy' and 'jude' to reconcile to the times.(touching point to bring in the return of the charcoal stick that 'jude' used to paint her prtrait on the building wall - and shown as faded...) joe's second song 'hey jude' is most fitting for recapping the movies' promise and what reconcilling can do if taken to fulfillment. brings all pieces back together for a btter assemblage than the first time; the return of 'jude' to america imagery is most promising. the album concludes with bono's 'lucy in the sky with diamonds' and covers the film's end credit is superb as you just enjoy julie taymoor's vision for pulling off such a collage of persons, events, and circumstances. Seen the movie four times and plan on getting the dvd asap!!
