Music Review: Now this is what I call REAL RAP

It's 2003 now and I know more rap listeners are getting stuck into new school but for me, the old times will always be the best. 'Strictly 4 my N.I.G.G.A.Z' was made back in '93, a year before 'Thug Life, vol. 1' was released. Consisting of 16 songs altogether, 2pac released 4 songs from this CD but personally I reckon he should have released other songs as most of the songs on this CD are outstanding.

As a rap listener, most people look for the lyrics when they listen to rap but for me, beats is more important, I don't know why so don't go on bugging me about it. However I still do find lyrics in a song sometimes. Trust me, this CD is full of beats that will bring back memories and will get your groove on for real. Definitions of this is like 'Represintin '93'. When I first heard this, I just couldn't believe it. The beat is one of the most FINEST I have heard in a long time! 'The Streets R Deathrow' also features another great beat and it's funny how it was originally done by 'Barry White'. His lyrical skills are absolutely amazing in this. 'I Get Around' is one of those classic rap songs, which has a groovy beat to dance to. However, the lyrics in this lack.

There are other times where 2pac rips it up and expresses his deepest feelings. A definition of what I'm talking about is 'Papa'z Song', a very emotional song that outlined his life without a father. Here, he speaks negative comments about how his father was not there for him and he invites a special guest, Wycked. Easily becoming one of my favorite songs off this CD, the beat is yet again a memorable and excellent one. 'Keep Ya Head Up' is why I really bought the album. It's one of 2pac's finest songs ever to be released and after '2pacalypse Now' got negative comments about how dark and heavy his songs were back in '91, it just blew America away when he released this. He speaks from the bottom of his heart on this and talks about standing up for your own rights, mainly about a woman's worth in the first verse. A true classic.

These are just few songs that 2pac created from the CD that are great. Mainly the whole CD is a masterpiece and has both great lyrics and beats. If you want to make other people think you're tough by rolling by neighborhoods and playing music real loud, then 'Last Wordz' or 'Holler If You Hear Me' is for you. If you want relax a little, then 'Keep Ya Head Up' or 'Something 2 Die 4' is for you. If you want to dance to something, then 'I Get Around' or 'Point the Finga' is for you. See, 2pac stands out real well here because he gave the world everything they needed on this album. Emotional, negative, angry, romantic, you name it, 2pac would always come out with a great song. 'Strictly 4 my N.I.G.G.A.Z' is a great album but it is far from a classic. However, we all know that 2pac is the REALIST of all REALIST and will always be king of Rap. R.I.P.
