Music Reviews of 1776: The New Broadway Cast Recording (1997)Music Review: It Changed my life. Rating: 5 Stars
It was my roommate who first introduced me to this musical, and I must say it has been life altering. My favorite part is the John Adams monologue. In fact, I love it so much that my roommate and I recite it together before we go to bed each night, after we've said the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Buy this CD for every non-patriot you know, and it will help them to see the way of the red, white, and blue.
Music Review: Good God, this is Incredible, Quality Time in College Rating: 5 Stars
My roomie and I love this cd. We listen to it all the time and sing and dance in our small dorm room to entertain the people that are failing US History before their final. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this cd. It will simply make you smile. Buy it. That's all you need to do to understand...buy the cd. Brent Spiner is wonderful and Greg Edelman is amazing. This show is well worth the money.
Music Review: One of the greatest shows on Earth! Rating: 5 Stars
This music will make you fall in love with the American Revolution. There is nothing like it in the world. Brent Spiner is terrific, you will really learn to appreciate his stage presence, and amazing acting ability. This cd is a must have for any fan of B-Way or just good, fun music. If I were able to give it six stars I would do it in a second, no second thoughts necessary.
Music Review: MUSICAL IN SEARCH OF BETTER VOICES Rating: 2 Stars
This recording really lacks the one necessary ingredient - great voices - that made the original recording so wonderful. When this first came out, the music as both incredibly singable and memorable for the very reason that the voices were so good and it stuck with you.
I would skip this latest release and get the original cast recording. It's just so much better.
Music Review: A Good, If Imperfect, Update on 1776 Rating: 3 Stars
I mostly agree with the other reviewers. Brent Spiner is good as John Adams...only occasionally did I remember that he was Mr. Data. The big problem I had was with Pat Hingle playing Ben Franklin. He doesn't have any voice, and he doesn't have any stage presence, at least on the CD. The Franklin in the original 1970's cast recording, Howard Da Silva, is VASTLY better.
